While your point of view is taken well into consideration, I have noticed that the majority of critical comments on Skullduggery were not from people who were even contemplating playing with the band, knowing full well that they preferred the bikini mas or bacchanal elite, but from potential Skullduggery masqueraders.
If you pay attention to the critique from people who were indeed looking for an alternative and who WANT to play with Skudllduggry THEY are the ones most disappointed. And while I agree that people were not paying attention to what the band was about and what to expect (they wre looking for the second coming of Minshall perhaps) at the end of the day no matter how genius your costumes are when it comes to creativity you still need masqueraders to play in your band.
Therefore the costumes need to be appealing to THEM, the ones who are actually going to wear it. We do not make mas to look at it and applaud it, we make mas to wear it, bikini mas or otherwise. No masqueraders, no band!
And mas has always been a reflection of our society so maybe the Bacchanal Elite represents a phenomena that extends itself to life in Trinidad and Tobago in the 21st century.
I hear that Saucy you might have said this in the wrong post but I get your point. And when the Queen of the Carnival blogasphere drops a line to voice her opinion I can only smile and say welcome Saucy, good to see you around these here parts!
