ITS THE CALO FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

The Notting Hill Carnival kicks into action this weekend with the start of the  opening of the CALO festival Tonight at the Alexander Palace in London tonight. This festival will celebrate the Caribbean’s presence in London through, music, food and the Arts and promises to be a grand start to the biggest carnival in Europe. Tonight features bands like Kes the band and Krosfyah, Soca stars like Blaxx ,Lil Rick, and Tallpree among many others. Time,

FELA! Hits Sadlers Wells on July 20th

Co-produced by Jay-Z, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, FELA! opened on Broadway in 2009 to rave reviews, I missed it when it hit London for a short time earlier this year, but its back for six weeks this summer  and I  booked my ticket!!. The musical is based on the life of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, his music and his controversial  life.

FELA! tells the true story of the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, whose blend of jazz, funk and African rhythms ignited a generation. Combining dance, theatre and music, FELA! reveals Kuti’s controversial life as an artist and political activist in rousing fashion
