Why We Owe it to Haiti to help them.
Haiti is on my mind people.
HAITI IS ON MY MIND!
Caribbean’s need to know and understand how much we owe to Haiti and how important it is to us and them that we stand up and help them in their greatest time of need.
I cannot emphasise to you what or where or how the people of Haiti have survived the many hardships they have survived for hundreds of years, but they as a people, have. I found this sires of videos that can give you an idea how Haiti became the first Black Republic . Like I said before the Haitian Revolution was the only successful Slave Revolt in history, these people back then kicked the collative asses of the French, Spanish, and British, in other words this pearl of the French Empire defeated every world power of the day, something we should never forget, it was this revolution, that triggered others in the region, it is because of the stand these people made for freedom that the monster that was slavery had to recoil and many others were then emancipated. It is this revolution believe it or not, that lead to in Trinidad what we call the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ our freedom celebration, in more ways than one... WE ARE FREE BECAUSE HAITIANS FOUGHT FOR FREEDOM AND WON.
And then, they were made to pay Europeans for their actions for centuries to follow.

Haiti Needs Your Help...
I got this statement from the Wyclef Jean website, the way I see it, if your thinking of donating monies it might as well be on his web site. So let’s all do what we can for our neighbours in Haiti they need us now more than ever...
“Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced.
The magnitude 7.0 earthquake – and several very strong aftershocks – struck only 10 miles from Port-au-Prince.
I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. The over 2 million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now.
President Obama has already said that the U.S. stands ‘ready to assist’ the Haitian people. The U.S. Military is the only group trained and prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon as possible. The international community must also rise to the occasion and help the Haitian people in every way possible.”
Many people have already reached out to see what they can do right now. We are asking those interested to please do one of two things: Either you can use your cell phone to text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill), or you can visit Yele.org and click on DONATE.

Say a Prayer for Haiti ...
I was up at 2;30 this morning watching the unfolding events in Haiti on the BBC and AL JAZEERA and thought to myself what if that was Trinidad could we survive that?
They say that God don’t give you more than you can handle, if that’s the case the people of Haiti must have the strength of biblical heroes. It was the Haitians who through titanic struggle defeated the French during the Haitian Revolution of 1791-1804 to become the First Free Black Republic at a time when the rest of Africans in the western Hemisphere were in shackles.
These Haitian people were beacons to the world that showed that we cannot be stopped and no chain can hold us forever, in the Haitian people are the seeds of strength, resistance, and survival. It was their fight for freedom that contributed to the eventual freedom of us all.
Today Haiti is known only as the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, and seem to suffer one disaster after the other, last year they suffered under the blows of three successive hurricanes, yesterday they suffered the largest earthquake in the region since the 1700’s 7 on the scale levelling the city of Port au Prince and killing many in the process.
So while you pack your bags and get ready for the party in Trin-Bago, take some time out for our brothers and sisters in Haiti, pray that the surviving spirit of the Haitian people yet again raise them up from disaster and that they triumph over each test they are given.
Pray too that our homelands big Islands and little ones, the rich ones and the poorer are speared such disasters and that the region can join hands to help Haiti in her time of need.
