JUST LAST WEEK, i had to give props to ISLAND PEOPLE,for their website and costume designs, this week WHAT DOES MY BULLSHIT RADER PICK UP?
YEP, ISLAND PEOPLE AT AROUND 11 O CLOCK!......
Some producer people in Trinidad told me that the new band IP were infact importing their mas from China and only doing parts of the costumes here, no come on how is it that these people can get away with this year after year?
Why must these cultural pimps sell trini culture for big U.S. bucks but leave out the local talent out of the Carnival pie?
why is it that the very people who's LOVE and SWEAT that goes into makeing "we thing" one of the greatist shows on Earth always be made to suffer by the bigbusiness mas companies that want to turn Carnival into a waste land for the little man, and a CASH CROP for themselves.?

Yep, I agree with Hottie. They see people are panting, waiting, talking about how they are hitting the website 20 times per day. They want "orgasmic" costumes, they don't care about the cost they just want to look sexy. IP is seeing all this and taking it in and acting in the manner they choose. Like they said "They are not begging anybody to play mas with them". It seems that the masqueraders are begging to play mas with IP.
Tribe is seeing high demand too but the difference is they are not abusing thier customers like a set of foster children.

A number of the bands - especially the hot bands - have turned to imported costumes. Carnival is no longer seen by some as an expression of our culture and a vibrant link with our past but a money making venture. Look at some of the people who are bringing out sections and bands. You think .....(insert name) sitting down by any sewing machine stitching up bra and panty? The thing is, as a masquerader, how do you know who is making thier own costume and who isn't?
And I meant to say, "Because we are letting them get away with it." Sorry.
