hat do I say about a band like Burrokeets?
Its one of those bands that has a great vibe on the road, but the costumes are consistently inconsistent. One year they HOT next year they NOT, I don’t know if its that they have different designers every year, or what , but this years presentation called Symphony of life is more like a boring melody an old one at that.
The theme is music, types of music, musical instruments, music with different cultural backgrounds, yet the costumes look as dated as the theme. Yes the theme has been done on both sides of the
How it’s done is what counts. 
Any experienced Carnivalist can tell you they have seen a section of this band in another band some where already, I can NEVER understand how, or why designers or teams of researchers and designers fail to explore the universe outside that of their little minds.
In a multicultural metropolis like London, your telling me that the design team at Burrokets could not do better, with all the musical influences , that bounce 
around the airwaves from funky house, to hip hop, to soca, to dance hall, to classical, to, pop so many influences all over the airwaves yet THIS IS YOUR SYMPHONY OF LIFE?
I would hate to see their symphony of death…….

took the words out of my mouth and i hear somwhere lincoln rahamut did the individual designs for them and no the design team is the same every year except when they imported the costumes for Gems in 2005.............
ANONYMOUS I was thinking about them designs,pastels on black backround, and I rember the imports, and thats why importing is a bad practice cause when that stops if your work is not up to scratch the whole standard seems to fall.

i used to play with burrokeets but am yet to find a band that has something to offer me apart from arawak and bacchanal mas so far so we will see............

Does this actually make sense to anyone... to say it or even believe it is silly. At least mention a designer who actually designs 'feather and bead' costumes. Its funny how this is the only designers named that seems to crop up... either he famous, or no other designer can compare... Has he set the bar for UK mas??? How come his name is the only one reffered to... in all these blogs? Aint it funny how you always hear about Beyonce & Kelly and not latoya & latavia.

actually every costume has feathers and beads really... glitter and braid was what I heard... I didn't wanna say bead on a string... thought that sounded rude.

and why does it sound like your taking offence... it seems you have something to prove... i know what my point was, do u know what yours was. your statement had nothing to do with wmy point.... i'm sure i clearly stated 'Bikini Mas', my dispuute was clear... the two bands look completely different. your general knowledge of the band is futile in this matter. your point was also misdirected. please don't concern yourself with or comment on trivial syntax nor semantics.

I really dont know where you all are getting your information, but the truth is that Lincoln Rahamut has never ever ever ever designed for Burrokeets. The individual costumes are designed by the Burrokeets design team and never by another band leader, so please get your facts right and stop spreading unfounded rumours.

The new generation of mas players have lost their way and forgotten the true meaning of mas and where it started, everyone is blinded by beads and £1 gems that has replaced the real artwork of costume, every band has its own unique style and if every band started to copy eachother and do makeshift beaded costume that has been ordered from the same samaroos catalouge, carnival will be a sale out, so what ever taste burrokeets have they bring thier own followers who like that taste of design and so on.
MAS MAKER what do you mean they have lost their way, what is the way? and what is its true meaning of mas remind us.
and if the two piece mas and mas of the beads is the mas of the lost what is burrokeets mas how would you describe their mas?
im also intruged since these costumes burrokeets are maded up of vinyl, braids and beads all available at samaroos lol i think if people travelled further afeild they would realise some bands shop far and wide to source new and interesting materials trinidad, new york, france and as far as china for feathers too!!! nail order is a wonderfull thing lol
